The Salomon Ring of Steall Sky Race

I was up in Scotland this weekend to take part in the Salomon Glencoe Skyline, a 55km mountain race in Skyrunning Extreme series. Before that though, I managed to spend a few hours watching the inaugural Salomon Ring of Steall sky race. This shorter, but no less brutal, event - "only" 29km - follows a modified version of the Ring of Steall walking route, taking in summits of the Mamores, Glen Nevis & the Steall Gorge. Everyone involved agreed it was a tough event. With a vertical KM on hte Friday, and the Ring of Steall and Glencoe Skyline races on subsequent days this weekend is set to become one of the greatest events in the UK running calendar. Here are a selection of images from the day.
