Firstly, cost-wise it makes sense, its not a bespoke site being designed specifically for me and so the costs are extremely manageable
Secondly, despite being a software developer I am not a web developer or graphic designer and it was long past time I admitted this and stopped trying to do everything myself. Cross browser compatibility, search engine optimisation and multi platform support (think ipad/android phone/pc, etc) are all areas that make me shudder and areas where my previous site fell down rather spectacularly
I also like the designs available through Zenfolio; I get a good looking customisable website for next to nothing and with very little work, which, from my point of view is a win-win situation
Finally, there are some good upgrade options. For now I've decided not to attempt to sell any work directly through my website. I'm still very much a part time operator and, even in my over-inflated view, not yet attracting enough traffic to make this worthwhile. If I want to though I can switch to another package instantly.
So, I hope if you are reading this you have also had a chance to look over the website and like what you see. Check back regularly, I'll be updating the site as often as possible and bloging about my various projects throughout the year.
